Benetton Rugby Treviso were founded in 1932 and have won 15 Italian National titles. The name Benetton was added in 1979 when the clothing manufacturer bought the club. Treviso have been owned by the manufacturer since.
They have competed in the Pro 12 league since 2010 having previously competed in the Italian National League. Benetton Treviso are one of two Italian teams who played in the Heineken Cup each year as they qualified automatically. The New European Rugby Championship Cup however, only has one place for an Italian club automatically, so with new rivals Zebre, the position will be hotly contested.
2013 saw Treviso have their best year in the Pro 12 League, managing to get 7th above teams like Cardiff Blues and Edinburgh. Notable players to play for Benetton Treviso include Rugby World Cup winners Michael Lynagh, John Kirwan, Alessandro Zanni and Leonardo Ghiraldini.
