Zebre (Zebras), as a professional European team were formed in 2012. The Zebre team was previously an Invitational Squad that had a proud record, even beating the Barbarians in 1997. This lineage meant that they were picked to be the new Italian rugby franchise and would hopefully improve the national Italian side.
Zebre play at the Stadio XXV Aprile in Parma with a big focus on developing Italian rugby talent, but have yet to make a major impact in the Guinness Pro 12 or European Cup. Zebre's striking team kit, inspired by their name, use zebra colours as well as a clever logo incorporating the Italian colours, a zebra and a rugby ball. Their kit is made by Italian sports manufacturer Errea.
Having made a number of good signings since their establishment, the majority being Italian players, Zebre are striving to be bigger players in European Rugby.
