Biography

Young Wales and Cardiff Blues centre burst on to the professional rugby scene last year after a strong season at Cardiff RFC in 2006/07.

Used as a utility back earlier in his career Roberts has been capped by Wales at full-back and wing, before securing the position of Inside Centre for both club and country.

He made his test debut on the wing for Wales against Scotland in their Grand Slam winning campaign in 2008. He was then moved to full-back for the summer test against South Africa and scored his first international try. His third cap came against Australia the following weekend where he played for the first time at inside centre. A commanding display at centre saw him selected in the same position for Cardiff Blues 2008/09 campaign.

He looks to have made this position his own, starting all Wales 2008 autumn tests and some cracking displays for the Cardiff Blues. At 6ft 4in tall his imposing figure and frightening pace make him a hard man to stop, as Scotland found out in this years Six Nations where he was awarded man of the match after an outstanding display.

The British & Irish Lions will be hoping his good form continues as he will battle experienced centres such as Tom Shanklin and Brian O'Driscoll for a test berth.
