Biography
Young Wales Lock Alun-Wyn Jones is one of the most exciting young talents in world rugby at the moment. His dominant and powerful play make him a dangerous customer in set pieces and open play.
Starting his club career at Swansea he won Young Player of the Year in the 2005/06 season. This earned him a place at regional side Ospreys where he played 15 games in his first season.
With all the attributes of a world class second row and his passion for the game make this 6' 6", 18 stone lock a force to be reckoned in the future.
He made his Wales debut against Argentina as a flanker in 2006 and featured in all Wales 2006 autumn tests.
Jones again featured in every one of Wales Six Nations matches in 2007 and was selected for the Rugby World Cup Squad. He scored tries against Canada and Japan and started other pool matches against Australia and Fiji.
In 2008 new Wales coach Warren Gatland selected Jones at second row for the first match against England, however he missed the next two games through injury, but made a speedy recovery to help Wales win the Triple Crown against Ireland and seal the Grand Slam against France.
The future is bright for young Alun-Wyn Jones, a born leader and with has unrivaled power and passion he will be a mainstay in the Wales setup for years to come.
